ABSTRACT
In this research, a study is elaborated through the curve number method, with the purpose of estimating the behavior of the basin in the Laureles sector located in the commune of Carahue, Araucanía region, where drinking water supply solutions were implemented without a previous study. For this, there are climatological records from the meteorological and agrometeorological stations of the commune of Carahue. These monthly data are: (i) rainfall, (ii) evapotranspiration, (iii) wind speed and (iv) relative humidity that will subsequently be used to determine monthly evaporation through the class A tray method. taking into account the procedure used by the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) of the United States, and with the stored data of precipitation the antecedent humidity is determined. Information that allows to find the average curve number for each micro basin, calculated from tables that have the values of the runoff curve number for different soil-use-cover conditions. Subsequently, with the precipitation and evaporation data, a surface water balance was made and the useful precipitation was determined to which, by means of calculations, the percentage of infiltration loss obtained from the curve number method to obtain the runoff was subtracted. Finally, through a statistical analysis of the runoff variable, it is sought to know the situation of each of the micro-basins under study.
